Soul Eater is a manga series created by Okubo Atsushi. It is currently serialized in Shounen GanGan with eleven collected volumes published to date. In April of 2008 a fifty-one episode anime adaptation by Studio BONES began broadcast across Japan. Soul Eater is set in a fictional town ruled by the powerful deity of death, Shinigami. Attending his special academy, young students train in meister/weapon partnerships with the goal of making a weapon suitable for use by Shinigami. In order to do this however, the weapons need to eat ninety-nine evil human souls and one witch soul- a task much easier said than done. In Soul Eater we follow the lives of Maka Albarn (a meister) and her weapon partner (the title character, Soul) as the pair struggle through what can only be described as a very unique school life together.
